Tic-tac-toe, also known as noughts and crosses or Xs and Os, is a
classic paper-and-pencil game that has been enjoyed by people of all
ages for centuries. Its origins can be traced back to ancient
civilizations, with some historians suggesting that the game may have
originated in ancient Egypt or Rome.
The basic premise of tic-tac-toe is simple: two players take turns
marking spaces in a 3x3 grid with their respective symbols (usually X
for one player and O for the other) with the goal of creating a row,
column, or diagonal of their symbols. The player who succeeds in placing
three of their symbols in a row, column, or diagonal wins the game. If
all spaces are filled without a winner, the game ends in a draw.
